Obererthal is a district of the Bavarian city of Hammelburg in the Lower Franconian district of Bad Kissingen .
Geographical location
Obererthal is located north of Hammelburg.
The St 2291 running through Obererthal leads in a south-westerly direction to Untererthal and in a north-easterly direction to Thulba , a district of Oberthulba .
history
The first known documentary mention of the place comes from January 7th, 777 as "Erthal". As part of the municipal reform , Obererthal became a district of Hammelburg on January 1, 1972.
Buildings worth seeing
The church of St. Antonius Einsiedler with the tower from 1481 dominates the village. The school was built around 1875 instead of a smaller one. At Freie Platz, in the upper village, there is the fire station built in 1950, upwards on the Thulba, the mill with the wooden mill wheel. Numerous historical wayside shrines, monuments and newer sculptures are present in the municipality.
