Location of Thulba in Bavaria |
Thulba is a district of the Oberthulba market in the Bad Kissingen district in Bavaria.
Surname
The name Thulba is derived from the Thulba river flowing through the village , which flows into the Franconian Saale near Hammelburg .
geography
Thulba is located in the Thulbatal in the Vorrhön directly at the confluence of the Laibach in the eponymous Thulba. The village borders in the northeast on Reith , in the east on the Reither Mühl, in the south on the district Elfershausen and on Feuerthal in the southeast on Obererthal and in the north-northeast on Frankenbrunn . In the west of the village is the Büchelberg, which at 445.2 m is the highest point in the community. The Franconian Marienweg runs through Thulba .
history
The first known documentary mention of Thulba comes from the year 796. As early as 816 a church was built in the village. In 1141 Pope Innocent II issued a letter of protection for the "Benedictine monastery Thulba with Franchenborne"; today's parish church of the village was built at the same time as the monastery belonging to the Fulda Abbey . The monastery itself was dissolved and the nuns chased away during the peasant uprising of 1525 , which was violently angry in this area . The church was looted and devastated in the Thirty Years War (1618–1648) , after its destruction in 1629 by Provost Heinrich von Calenberg again. In the Middle Ages, close parish and economic relationships arose between Frankenbrunn, Reith and Thulba, and in 1504 a wisdom was agreed between these places . On July 1, 1978 Thulba was incorporated into Oberthulba as part of the municipal reform.
Flora and fauna
There are many wooded areas around the village. The two brooks Thulba and Laibach with alder and willow trees, with reeds and other aquatic plants in natural stream beds flow through Thulba or directly past it. Carp and trout are native to both bodies of water, and some smaller bodies of water (Heinersgraben) flow in the immediate vicinity and later flow into the Thulba and Laibach. Wild boar and red deer are native to the forests around the village.
Buildings
The most important buildings of the place are the originally Romanesque, former monastery church St. Lambertus (Thulba) , the baroque provost house and the baroque stepped gable house of the former provost house. There are also remains of the monastery wall and the cloister.
Economy and Infrastructure
Mainly small businesses are based in the village, the best-known company is Hüfner Brandschutz GmbH with over 20 employees. The main road is the state road 2291 , which connects the place with Bad Kissingen, Oberthulba and the junction Bad Kissingen-Oberthulba to the BAB 7 in one direction , and Hammelburg and the federal road 27 in the other direction.
