Frankenbrunn is a district of the Oberthulba market in the Bad Kissingen district in Bavaria.

Geographical location

Frankenbrunn is located west of Oberthulba. The KG 35 running through Frankenbrunn leads west to Hetzlos and joins the B 27 . The KG 35 leads east to Reith . The Franconian Marienweg runs south of Frankenbrunn .

history

In the Frankenbrunn area already around 450 BC. BC (in the Latène period ) burial mounds laid out. The oldest documentary evidence of Frankenbrunn itself is the confirmation of the "Benedictine monastery Thulba with Franchenborne" in a letter of protection issued by Pope Innocent II in 1141 . In the Middle Ages, close parish and economic relationships arose between Frankenbrunn, Reith and Thulba, when, for example, a wisdom was agreed between these places in 1504 . A Würzburg inventory letter from 1603 documents the early beginnings of viticulture in Frankenbrunn. In 1718, after ten years of construction, the construction of the Michaelskapelle donated by Frater Josef from Schönberg near Bensheim was completed. A separate church for Frankenbrunn with the St. Bonifatius Church was not built until 1949; the construction work had taken two years.

On May 1, 1978 Frankenbrunn was incorporated into Oberthulba as part of the municipal reform.
