Location of Feuerthal in Bavaria

Feuerthal has been a district of the small Bavarian town of Hammelburg in the Lower Franconian district of Bad Kissingen since 1972 and has around 250 inhabitants.

Geographical location

Feuerthal is located northeast of Hammelburg and is connected to Westheim to the south . The A 7 runs east of Feuerthal in a north-south direction .

history

The first known mention of the place comes from the year 1303. The name Feuerthal probably has nothing to do with fire, but is derived from the Old High German term Furtal , which means something like a settlement located in a wood-rich area .

The local church of St. Wendelin originally dates from the 13th century, but only the massive tower from this time has survived; the nave dates from 1934.

As part of the municipal reform , Feuerthal became a district of Hammelburg on January 1, 1972.

Others
