Hollow bulge
The hollow bulge is a phenomenon of the Bronze and Iron Ages . It is found in depots between Denmark , Poland and Thuringia . The development of these sausage-like prehistoric bronze bracelets , which require a high level of technical skill in casting and driving, has not yet been clarified. Their molds can be found in the entire area of distribution.
The rings have an oval, round or D-shaped, in individual cases also triangular cross-section. In general, their diameter is around 15 cm. One of the oldest finds dates from 1856 from Schlöben in Thuringia . The two pairs of arm rings from Handorf near Münster are elaborately decorated and ribbed. They were discovered around 1870. The find from Jatznick in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district has a diameter of 30 cm. The most recent, barely decorated find was made in 2007 and comes from Stolpe on the island of Usedom .
