Hokejski Club Zelina
The Hokejski Klub Zelina (short: HK Zelina, Partizan) is a hockey club founded in 1955 from the small Croatian town of Sveti Ivan Zelina , around 35 km northeast of Zagreb . The club playing in green and white operated under the name Partizan Zelina at the time of socialist Yugoslavia . The first game played Zelina on March 25, 1956 in Zagreb, which was lost to the local Club Marathon with 0: 3. From the 1970s the club belonged to the Yugoslav top.
In 2009 the club had only 30 active members and its continued existence was seriously jeopardized. With the start of a junior program, which included hockey camps for interested beginners in summer, and the merger with the Viktoria women's hockey club , the number of active players could be increased to over 200. Another problem was the lack of a modern artificial turf field. The home games and some training had to be held in Zagreb, so that the conditions for normal club operations were extremely difficult and the club had problems keeping its players. But since the mid-2010s, an artificial hockey turf field around 1 km northeast of the town center has been available. For its development, HK Zelina was awarded the title Club Of The Year - Medium Club by the European Hockey Federation in 2014.
