Holdgate Castle

Holdgate Castle , also Holgate Castle , is a ruined castle in the village of Holdgate between the towns of Craven Arms and Bridgnorth in the English county of Shropshire .

The castle was mentioned in the Domesday Book as early as 1068 . It was a moth that later housed a college for diocesan priests . The college was founded before 1210 and dissolved after 1373.

Today, earthworks and stone foundations are still preserved from the castle , as are the remains of a semicircular flanking tower from the 13th century, which are part of a nearby farm.
