Holger Mahnicke

Holger Mahnicke (born February 25, 1960 in Hamburg ) is a German diplomat who was ambassador to Cameroon and the Central African Republic from 2015 to 2016 .

Life

After graduating from high school, Mahnicke did his community service between 1979 and 1981 and then began teaching history, French and pedagogy in 1981 , which he completed in 1986 with the scientific examination for teaching degree 1 . After completing the teaching traineeship from 1987 to 1989 , he passed the pedagogical examination for teaching post 2 at secondary schools in Hamburg in 1989.

In 1989 Mahnicke began the preparatory service for the senior foreign service and after its graduation was initially employed at the headquarters of the Foreign Office between 1991 and 1992 and then from 1992 to 1995 at the embassy in Venezuela . After a new assignment between 1995 and 1998 in the Foreign Office, he was Permanent Representative of the Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from 1998 to 2002 and then Permanent Representative of the Ambassador to Malaysia from 2002 to 2004 .

After his return, Mahnicke acted as deputy head of department in the Foreign Office between 2004 and 2008 before, after a post in 2008 as an exchange officer in the French Foreign Ministry between 2009 and 2012, he worked at the embassy in France . From 2012 to 2015 he was head of division in the Foreign Office.

In July 2015, Mahnicke succeeded the retired Klaus-Ludwig Keferstein as ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Cameroon and as such was also accredited as ambassador to the Central African Republic . On November 12, 2015, he was received by the President of the Republic of Cameroon , Paul Biya , to present his credentials.
