Holger Rogall (born July 17, 1954 in Berlin ) is a German university professor and former politician. He describes his field of research as “ sustainable economy” in contrast to the older concepts of ecological economics or environmental economics .

Life

Holger Rogall is a son of the Berlin SPD politician Arved Rogall (1927-2008) and passed his Abitur examination in 1974. From 1975 to 1980 he studied economics and political science at the Free University of Berlin with a degree in economics. He then completed a degree in business education in 1982 as a business teacher . In 1987, with a joint dissertation on the subject of housing cooperatives , a self-managed form of company between resident-oriented tradition and socio-political aspirations, he became a Dr. rer. pole. PhD. He then worked for the Institute for Future Studies and Technology Assessment as a project and department manager.

Between 1996 and 2018 he was Professor of Sustainable Economics (until 2009 Environmental Economics) at the Berlin School of Economics and Law (HWR) (formerly: University of Applied Sciences for Economics). 2012–18 he was director of the Institute for Sustainability at HWR Berlin (INa). Today he is a lecturer at the Leuphana University of Lüneburg and the Berlin School of Economics and Law, head of the Institute for Sustainable Economics (INÖk) and managing editor of the Sustainable Economics yearbook. Since 2002 he has been chairman of the non-profit society for sustainability eV (GfN) and since 2009 initiator and coordinator of the network sustainable economy. Since 2000 he is the author of numerous books, e. B. Basics of sustainable economics, economics for students of the 21st century (2nd expanded edition, 2015), economics for social scientists (2nd expanded edition 2013), sustainable economics (2nd expanded edition, 2012), ecological economics ( 2008), with which he wants to reform the traditional economy. With his publication 100% supply with renewable energies (2014) he deals with the energy transition.

In 2006 he received the German Solar Prize .

Rogall joined the SPD in 1972 . From 1991 to 1995, 1996 to 1999, 1999 to 2001 and again from 2004 to 2006 he was a member of the Berlin House of Representatives with a focus on sustainability and environmental protection. In 1995 he initiated the amendment of the Berlin Energy Saving Act, with the introduction of an obligation to use thermal solar systems in new buildings by means of a solar system ordinance (SolVO). The ordinance was taken up by Barcelona, ​​then passed by Spain and Portugal and introduced in Germany in 2007 as the Renewable Energy Heat Act . In 2006, together with Delia Hinz, he was one of the leading members of the editorial and coordination team of the Berlin Local Agenda 21 , which was passed by the House of Representatives in June 2006.
