Maria Weinand
Maria Weinand (born November 23, 1882 as Maria Appolonia Weinand at Gut Forsterhof in Cochem ; † May 10, 1960 in Essen-Kupferdreh ) was a German educator , writer and politician ( center ).
Life
Maria Weinand attended elementary school in Faid near Cochem and in Essen . From 1897 to 1900 she continued her private education. She then attended the teachers' seminar in Xanten until 1903 , passed the teacher examination there and worked as a primary school teacher in Traar near Krefeld from 1903 to 1906 and as a teacher at primary and auxiliary schools in Essen from 1906 to 1923. From 1923 she was on leave and until 1929 studied pedagogy , philosophy , sociology , German studies and history at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster, the University of Hamburg and the University of Cologne . In 1926 she passed the supplementary examination and in 1929 she earned her doctorate in philosophy at the University of Cologne .
From 1930 to 1948 Maria Weinand was principal at an elementary school in Essen. From 1932 until its dissolution in 1933, she was a member of the Prussian state parliament as a member of the Center Party . From 1946 until her retirement in 1948, she held a teaching position at the newly founded Ruhr University of Education in Essen-Kupferdreh.
Maria Weinand wrote poems and plays in addition to her professional activity; in addition, she published a treatise on Annette von Droste-Hülshoff and edited an "Essener saga book".
