Holger Simon Paulli

Holger Simon Paulli (born February 22, 1810 in Copenhagen ; † December 23, 1891 there ) was a Danish conductor and composer .

Life

Paulli was a violin student of Claus Schall and became a member, in 1864 Kapellmeister of the Royal Orchestra in Copenhagen. From 1865 to 1870 he directed the Orchester des musikerforeningen , the orchestra of retired Copenhagen musicians. From 1870 to 1877 he then directed the choir and orchestra of the Cecilia Foreningen . In addition, since 1866 he was one of the directors of the newly founded Copenhagen Conservatory . With performances of Lohengrin and the Meistersinger he made a contribution to the dissemination of Richard Wagner's works in Denmark.

Paulli composed an opera , thirteen pieces of ballet , an overture as well as violin pieces and songs .
