Holger Steltzner

Holger Steltzner (born December 21, 1962 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a journalist and former editor of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ).

Life

After high school and banking apprenticeship, Steltzner studied business administration and law at the University of Frankfurt . He then worked for a year as a management assistant in a medium-sized company, then in the investment business of a major Swiss bank. In February 1993 he joined the editorial staff of the FAZ and concentrated on financial market reporting. Six years later he took over the management of the financial market section and on August 1, 2002, succeeded Jürgen Jeske as the editor of the newspaper.

On March 18, 2019, the FAZ announced that Steltzner had left the group of publishers of the newspaper because further trusting cooperation with the other publishers was no longer possible. In June 2019, Der Spiegel reported that the termination by the other publishers was in connection with the extension of co-editor Jürgen Kaube's contract .

Honors

On September 20, 2016, Holger Steltzner received the Ludwig Erhard Prize for Business Journalism 2016 from the Ludwig Erhard Foundation . In the award it says: The jury recognizes him “for his comments and his consistent position in terms of regulatory policy on current economic and financial issues. As the editor of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, he shaped the economic policy line of the paper in an excellent way. "
