The Holi (abbreviation for: Hochhauslichtspiele ) is a traditional cinema in Hamburg on Schlankreye Street in Harvestehude near the Hoheluftbrücke underground station . Today it belongs - as the only traditional cinema - to the Cinemaxx group and is supposed to offer a more sophisticated program within it.

history

The cinema opened in 1951 and also acted as a premiere cinema. Part of the interior has been preserved to this day. The sequined curtain in room 1, hand-painted with Hamburg city motifs by the artist Friedrich Schwiek, was extensively restored a few years ago and is a listed building.

Technical Equipment

The screen in room 1 measures 11 × 5.5 meters. The hall itself offers space for 410 visitors. The screen in room 2 measures 7 × 3 meters, there are 144 seats. Both halls are equipped with 2D, 4K digital projectors and Dolby Digital 7.1 and 5.1 sound systems. The cinema is not barrier-free for wheelchair users . Visually impaired and hearing impaired people are given the opportunity to follow suitably equipped films with the Greta & Starks apps .
