Architecture and history

Originally there was a windmill on the way to Oberhagen . However, it was already lost in the 16th century. Efforts to establish a new windmill in Rövershagen failed for a long time. On June 26, 1868, the Mecklenburg Grand Duke gave the Rostock magistrate permission to build a mill in Rövershagen. Nevertheless, there was initially no new building. A planned construction on a field of the Oberhäger lease did not take place. The windmill was built in 1881 as an earth Dutchman . It was commissioned by the miller journeyman Heinrich Klingenberg , whose father was the miller Johannes Klingenberg , who worked in Graal . For the long lease, 3,000 marks were paid to the city of Rostock's treasury.

In 1908 a machine house was built next to the windmill. A locomobile was located here, which could be used to grind even in weak winds.

The mill operated as a windmill until 1963. The mill then fell into disrepair. In the 1980s there were plans to dismantle it and rebuild it on the occasion of the 750th anniversary of the city of Berlin in the Berlin district of Marzahn . However, the project was not implemented. The first securing work on the mill took place in April / May 1989. In March 1990 the mill was purchased and subsequently restored. On August 14th and 15th, 1992, the mill's weather bar was replaced. From April 1993 to September 1994 the hull and cap of the mill were re-covered with around 25,000 hardwood shingles. The masonry of the base was then repaired again in the summer of 1995. Three of the eight walls were torn down and then re-bricked with the original material. In 1996 the wind rose was renewed . The structure, which weighs about two tons, was put back on September 28, 1996 with the help of a slewing crane. From April to August 1997 the wing cross was then renewed. The span is 21.60 meters. The wings with louvre flaps weigh 750 kilograms, the other 500 kilograms. As of August 31, 1997, the mill was externally finished and windy again. Storm damage occurred in July 2005, which was repaired by 2006.
