The Holmes Hills are a group of up to 1700  m high Nunatakkern and mountain ridges in the south-central Palmerland on the Antarctic Peninsula . They rise between the Runcorn and Beaumont glaciers and border the Brennecke Nunatakker to the southwest .

The United States Geological Survey mapped them using aerial photographs taken by the United States Navy from 1966 to 1969. The British Antarctic Survey carried out surveys between 1972 and 1973. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named them in 1978 after the British geologist Arthur Holmes (1890-1965), who worked at the University of Edinburgh from 1943 to 1965 .
