Holzmarkt (Ludwigsburg)

The Holzmarkt is a place in Ludwigsburg in Baden-Württemberg .

description

The octagonal, sloping square was designed by the Italian builder Donato Giuseppe Frisoni . It helps to overcome the height difference between the castle and the market square and, as the name suggests, served the timber trade for many years. Today there is a roundabout on it. The obelisk in the middle of the square was built in 1953 to replace a fountain. One of the four pages is dedicated to the four great Ludwigsburg poets:
