The Hombron Rocks ( French Roche Hombron ) are a group of reef rocks washed over by the sea off the northwest coast of the Trinity Peninsula at the northern end of the Antarctic Peninsula . You are in front of Thanaron Point .
They were discovered by participants in the Third French Antarctic Expedition (1837-1840) under the direction of polar explorer Jules Dumont d'Urville . D'Urville named it after Jacques Bernard Hombron (1798-1852), who worked as a surgeon on this research trip . The Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey carried out measurements in 1946 . The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee translated the French name into English in 1949.
