Homestory
Homestory is a Denglish term created by German-speaking media for a journalistic contribution in which the private pages of a prominent person are presented - in the form of a text, a photo story or a film . The term is used both within the editorial team and in general terms for the readership.
Home stories are particularly widespread in the tabloid media . The prominent person is in domestic living environment ( english home portrayed); Details from her private life are shown. It's not actually about journalistic content and information. According to some authors, home stories meet multiple needs and interests:
- There is an interest in the yellow press readership in the private pages of stars and celebrities .
- By voluntarily agreeing to home stories, some celebrities try to forestall paparazzi and consciously control their public image.
- Occasionally, home stories are also staged because celebrities with a bad image want to improve their image .
- The media is interested in the intention of increasing the quota or circulation with a homestory .
Since the term homestory is generally known as a report created in a person's private living environment, it is also used for depictions from the field of architecture or interior design . The focus here is on the design of the apartment or house and not on the people who live in it, and usually not even prominent people. Such home stories, which mostly appear in interior design magazines, also have an entertainment function, as they are mostly aimed at an interested lay audience and less at experts.
Examples
A good example of the unsuccessful attempt to generate public sympathy through a homestory is the former Federal Defense Minister Rudolf Scharping , who was photographed in the swimming pool with his partner Kristina Countess Pilati-Borggreve , among others, for the magazine Bunte the Bundeswehr was about to deploy in Macedonia.
The songwriter Reinhard Mey caricatured the subject in his hit "The Homestory".
