William "Honey" Mellody (born January 15, 1884 in Charlestown , Boston , USA as William J. Mellody , † March 2, 1919 ) was an American boxer and welterweight champion in 1906 by beating previous world champion Joe Walcott in Chelsea , Massachusetts. In 1907 he lost his world title to Mike Twin Sullivan .
About five years after his retirement from boxing Mellody became seriously ill and died on March 2, 1919 of pneumonia . He was only 35 years old.
