The place Honeymoon Bay is located in an unincorporated area in the Canadian province of British Columbia . It is located on Cowichan Lake in the southeastern part of Vancouver Island - approximately 75 km (47 mi) northwest of Victoria . The communities of Mesachie Lake , Lake Cowichan , Youbou, and Caycuse are in the immediate vicinity.

Historically, the main industry is forestry .

history

The place was originally founded in 1947 by Western Forest Industries on the site of a sawmill in order to locate the workers in the immediate vicinity. The sawmill burned down in 1948, but was immediately rebuilt and continued to operate until 1981. The first farmer in Honeymoon Bay was Henry March, an English pioneer who settled in the pristine wilderness. He had established his farm in 1887 and later became the town's first justice of the peace. Henry March died in an accident in 1950 at the age of 83.

In 2011 the population was 580.
