Hongjiang ( Chinese  洪江 市 , Pinyin Hóngjiāng Shì ) is an independent city in the southern Hunan Province of the People's Republic of China . It belongs to the administrative area of ​​the prefecture-level city of Huaihua . Hongjiang has an area of ​​2,279 km² and about 500,000 inhabitants (2002). Hongjiang is made up of four street districts, eight large parishes, 18 parishes and two nationality parishes (one of the Miao and one of the Yao ).
