Horacio Casini

Horacio German Casini (* 1970 in San Nicolas near Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine theoretical physicist .

He conducts research for the national Argentine research council CONICET (Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas) and is at the Instituto Balseiro of the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo in Mendoza (Argentina) . It is part of the Bariloche Nuclear Research Center in northern Patagonia. Casini has been there since he was a student in the 1980s.

He is known for his work on quantum entanglement , where he succeeded in a new interpretation of the Bekenstein limit with the aid of quantum entanglement and an entropy derived from it. It is also useful for considering individual particles that are enclosed in a volume. He also showed that the entropy bounds from the Bekenstein limit are a general property of quantum field theories and not only of those that are coupled to gravity . In much of his work he worked with Marina Huerta , who also works at the Instituto Basileiro.

In 2015 he and Marina Huerta received the New Horizons in Physics Prize . In 2014 both were at the Institute for Advanced Study (Casini also in 2012). They were also at the Perimeter Institute in Waterloo, Ontario (with Robert C. Myers ).

He is married to Marina Huerta. You have several children.
