Horacio Esteves

Horacio Esteves ( Horacio E. Esteves Orihuela; born July 6, 1941 in Yaritagua , † July 26, 1996 ) was a Venezuelan sprinter .

In 1960 he reached the semifinals at the Olympic Games in Rome over 100 m and was eliminated in the 4-by-100-meter relay in the preliminary run.

At the South American Athletics Championships in Lima in 1961 , he won over 200 m , in the 4-by-100-meter relay and in the 4-by-400-meter relay and won silver over 100 m .

In 1963 he won silver in the 4 x 100 meter relay at the Pan American Games in São Paulo and was fourth in the 100 m.

On August 15, 1964, he set the world record over 100 m with 10.0 s, but an injury prevented participation in the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

In 1968 he retired from the Olympic Games in Mexico City over 100 m in the run.
