Horatius de Hooch

Horatius de Hooch (active 2nd half of the 17th century) was a Dutch painter.

Horatius de Hooch was one of the many Dutch painters who specialized in depicting Italian landscapes. Nothing is known about his origins and training. In 1669 he is mentioned for the first time as chairman of the Guild of St. Luke in Utrecht . He may have previously worked in Amsterdam for a few years , where a nocturnal landscape by him is mentioned in 1653 at an art dealer named Meldert. He married in 1670 .

Only a few pictures of him have survived. The dated pictures were taken between 1652 and 1692 .
