horizonte was a society and faith magazine in the television program of the Hessischer Rundfunk .

Framework conditions and content

The current broadcasting slot is on Saturdays at 5:00 p.m. and Sundays at 9:30 a.m. on hr-fernsehen . The program exists in two formats: On Saturdays, film features on a specific topic from the areas of society, belief, religion and spirituality are broadcast under the title "horizonte" , which are usually introduced with a brief introduction. The films are often bought in from other (ARD) stations.

On Sunday mornings, the program "horizonte" has the format of a discussion group. The show is moderated by Meinhard Schmidt-Degenhard , who discusses one of the above-mentioned topics in the studio with one or more guests. He is often supported by feature films, and the "call-in" format is also used in some programs, in which viewers can join the discussion by telephone.

Even if the magazine sees itself as a faith magazine, the content is no longer limited to topics that are directly related to religion and spirituality. New ethical and moral discussions, for example in the field of biotechnology or brain research, are regularly the subject of the programs.

history

The first "horizonte" broadcast was on February 2, 1975. The initiator was the then editor-in-chief and moderator Carl Bringer.
