Hans-Jürgen Wirth (born February 15, 1951 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German psychoanalyst , psychological psychotherapist and publisher of the Psychosozial Verlag . He is an adjunct professor at the Institute for Sociology in the Faculty of Social Sciences at the Goethe University Frankfurt and represents the subject area “Sociology and Social Psychology with a Focus on Empirical Educational Research”.

Life

Wirth studied psychology and sociology in Gießen and was from 1976 to 1992 a university assistant and research assistant at the "Center for Psychosomatic Medicine" at the University of Gießen with Horst-Eberhard Richter . 1985 the doctorate to Dr. rer. soc. at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen and in 1997 the habilitation at Faculty 11 (Human and Health Sciences) at the University of Bremen .

Wirth is the founder and publisher of Psychosozial-Verlag and Haland & Wirth, together with Trin Haland-Wirth. With the founding of the publishing house, Wirth pursued the goal of placing publications from various psychological and sociological disciplines under one roof and thereby stimulating interdisciplinary dialogue. He is editor of the book series Library of Psychoanalysis and co-editor of the book series Psyche and Society , together with Johann August Schülein , in Vienna. The lecturer at the "Institute for Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy Gießen e. V. ”and in the“ Couple, Family and Social Therapy Section ”of this institute is also co-editor of the journal psychosozial . He worked as a member of the editorial board of the magazine Pro familia magazin from 1996 to 2002. Wirth was a co-founder and member of the editorial board of the magazine Psychoanalytische Familientherapie . He runs his own psychoanalytic practice in Giessen .

Wirth appears in the media partly as an interview partner, but also as the author of scientific articles on topics such as “Narcissism in Politics”. He wrote about political decision-makers such as Andrea Ypsilanti , Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg , the British politicians Boris Johnson and David Cameron, and Donald Trump . In 2002 he wrote his book on narcissism and power with analyzes of Uwe Barschel , Helmut Kohl , Joschka Fischer and Slobodan Milošević , the fifth edition of which was published in 2011.
