Inge Prokot
Inge Prokot (* 1933 in Cologne ; † April 12, 2012 ) was a Cologne-based graphic artist , sculptor and object artist .
Act
From 1949 to 1955 Inge Prokote studied at the University of Applied Sciences for Art and Design, Cologne. Since then she has been working as a freelance artist. In 1969 she began with the design of objects, object montages, object steles, soft sculptures and photo series.
She took her ideas and materials from nature ( skins , bones ), but also combined them with artificially created products ( roofing felt and other materials). Fur often played an important role in this. Particularly noticeable and highlighted in her work are her taller-than-man-sized elephants made of white sheepskin . As she wrote, she was fond of elephants. For the field objects see the article → Pelzkunst, Inge Prokot .
