history

Horndorf is mentioned in a document in 1299 when the squire Albert von Reinstorf sold three goods in Horndorf to the provost Hartwig and the church in Medingen. In the sources, e.g. B. in the Winsener treasure register from 1450, 6 house locations are always given for Horndorf, all of which are manorial. For the year 1848 it is stated that Horndorf had six residential buildings in which 48 residents lived. At the time the place was parish to Reinstorf, where the school was located. On December 1, 1910, Horndorf in the Lüneburg district had 89 inhabitants. The former single-digit Hof Breitenstein, now part of Horndorf, was owned by the St. Michaelis Monastery in Lüneburg and was specifically mentioned in the statistics of the Kingdom of Hanover from 1824. In 1910 the single-digit Hof Breitenstein was listed next to Horndorf in the register of residents. On March 1, 1974 Horndorf was incorporated into Reinstorf.
