Fred Wesley & the Horny Horns
Fred Wesley & the Horny Horns were a wind team made up of trombonist Fred Wesley , saxophonist Maceo Parker and trumpeters Rick Gardner and Richard Griffith .
Band history
Wesley and Parker had worked with James Brown since the 1960s . In the 1970s they first played as the Horny Horns for Parliament / Funkadelic and Bootsy's Rubber Band . George S. Clinton produced the group's first album, A Blow for Me, A Toot for You , in 1977 , which was released on Atlantic Records . Wesley produced the second album, Say Blow by Blow Backwards , with Clinton and Collins in 1979. Both albums were not particularly successful commercially. In 1995 a compilation of previously unreleased tracks called The Final Blow was subsequently released .
