Horseed FC is a Somali football club from Mogadishu . With seven championships won, it is the most successful club in Somalia after Elman FC . The club founded by the military had its most successful period in the 1970s. Since the last championship win in 1980, the club has not been able to build on its previous successes with the exception of three cup wins.
CECAFA Club Cup
Horseed was the first club from Somalia to reach the final of the CECAFA Club Cup . In 1977 they lost there against Luo Union , a team from Kenya , 2-1. In the following seasons, the club reached the semi-finals twice, but lost there once against Simba SC from Tanzania in 1978 and 1979 against the eventual winner Abulahuya FC from Kenya in 1979.
