Horst-Dieter Tietz

Horst-Dieter Tietz (born February 26, 1937 in Magdeburg ) is a professor emeritus and former rector of the Zwickau University of Applied Sciences .

He studied materials science and testing , received his doctorate in 1965 and completed his habilitation in 1970. From 1965 to 1971 he headed the materials testing institute of a heavy engineering company. In 1971 he became a professor at the engineering college in Zwickau. From 1989 to 1992 he headed the department for materials and quality assurance at the TH Zwickau. In 1991 he was appointed rector by the Saxon State Ministry for Science and Art , was founding rector from 1992 and elected rector of the Zwickau University of Applied Sciences from 1996. On January 26, 2000, he handed this office over to the newly elected Rector Karl-Friedrich Fischer . In 2005 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit for his work in connection with the Zwickau University of Applied Sciences.

Horst-Dieter Tietz is an internationally recognized specialist in the field of materials technology and non-destructive testing .
