Karl-Friedrich Fischer

Karl-Friedrich Fischer (born August 8, 1947 in Zwickau ) is a German computer scientist and engineer. Fischer is currently professor for technical mechanics / elastostatics at the West Saxon University of Zwickau .

Life

After graduating from high school and graduating as a fitter in 1966, he studied applied mechanics at the TU Dresden from 1966 to 1971 . In 1975 he received his doctorate in computer science from the TU Dresden as Dr.-Ing. From 1974 to 1979 he was a scientific assistant in the field of technical mechanics at the engineering college in Zwickau, and from 1979 to 1985 as senior assistant. In 1982 he obtained his habilitation for Dr.sc.techn. in the field of applied mechanics at the TU Dresden. In 1984 he obtained the Facultas Docendi teaching qualification , the typical form of habilitation in the GDR. From 1985 to 1987 he worked as a calculation engineer at the Sachsenring Automobilwerke Zwickau . In 1986 he was appointed university lecturer for fracture mechanics , and in 1988 he was appointed full professor for technical mechanics at the engineering college and technical college in Zwickau. Since 1987 he has been head of the Institute for Technical Mechanics at the university. From 1990 to 1992 he was a member of the Senate of the TH Zwickau, 1990/1991 Vice Rector for Research and Scientific Development. In 1992 he became professor of new law in the Free State of Saxony on the one hand and professor of technical mechanics / elastostatics on the other hand at the FH Zwickau and its representative at the German Research Foundation . From 1995 to 2000 he was dean of the mechanical engineering and automotive engineering department and a member of the WHZ Senate. On January 26, 2000 he was elected as the successor of Horst-Dieter Tietz as rector of the West Saxon University of Applied Sciences in Zwickau. He held this office until May 2011.

He has been deputy chairman of the Saxon Mechanics Association since 1990. V. and member of the GAMM . Since 1984 member of the Board of Editors of the journal Int. Journal of Theoretical and Applied Fracture Mechanics and since 1998 member of the Course Team MSc Automotive Engineering at the University of Central England (UCE) in Birmingham . He is also the editor of numerous specialist books, textbooks and articles in specialist journals and conference proceedings.

Karl-Friedrich Fischer has been married since 1971, has a son and lives in the town of Kirchberg near Zwickau.
