Horst-Peter "Wacki" Kretschmer (born October 19, 1955 in Bad Tölz ; † April 24, 2015 ibid) was a German ice hockey player who, during his active time from 1972 to 1992, worked for EC Bad Tölz , Düsseldorfer EG and DJK SB Rosenheim played in the Bundesliga .
Career
Kretschmer comes from the offspring of SC Reichersbeuern , with whom he became German youth champion in 1970. He moved from SCR to EC Bad Tölz and played there in the Bundesliga for two years from the 1972/73 season . For the 1974/75 season , the financially strong Düsseldorfer EG brought the defender into their team . There he won the German championship title in the first year and developed into one of the most solid German defenders. He also made the leap into the German national ice hockey team and played his first international tournament at the 1976 World Cup . For many years he was an integral part of the German selection. After his first participation in the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid , he wanted to switch to EHC 70 Munich , but this was not the case.
A year later he actually returned to Bavaria . In the following years he won the German championship title three times with SB Rosenheim . In 1988 in Calgary he was in a German squad for the second time at the Winter Olympics.
In 1992 he ended his active career. The 146-time national player is a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame Germany .
Wacki Kretschmer died of a heart attack on April 24, 2015 in his hometown of Bad Tölz .
