Horst-Werner Schlierer (born  June 29, 1960 in Hülben ) is a former German football player.

In his youth, Schlierer played for SV Hülben and TuS Metzingen . As an active player he first returned to his hometown club in Hülben, for which he played in the district league from 1978 to 1980 and was twice top scorer with 30 and 36 goals. He then switched to the amateurs of VfB Stuttgart playing in the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg . For the 1982/83 season he rose to the club's licensed players. Schlierer played his first Bundesliga game on September 25, 1982, when he came on for Thomas Kempe in the 83rd minute in the 3-0 away win against Bayer 04 Leverkusen . In the rest of the preliminary round he came on three more missions. After Horst-Werner Schlierer was no longer considered in the second half of the season, he moved to THOR Waterschei in Belgium in the summer of 1983 . Other professional stations were Royal Antwerp and Patro Eisden .

Between 1990 and 1992 Schlierer was the player-coach of Genk VV. After that he was the youth coach of the KRC Genk until 2001 , since then he has been the sporting commissioner of the youth department. In addition, he has been a talent scout for the club's licensed player department since 1998.

Horst-Werner Schlierer has lived in Genk, Belgium, since 1983 and is married to Lisanne Govaers with whom he has two sons.
