Horst Brunner (geologist)

Horst Brunner (born November 2, 1942 in Nuremberg ; † December 9, 2000 in Erlenbach ) was a German geologist .

Brunner studied geology in Stuttgart and received his doctorate in 1973 under Manfred Gwinner (stratigraphic and sediment petrographic investigations on the Lower Keuper in northern Baden-Württemberg). Afterwards he was at the Geological State Office in Stuttgart, where he was in the regional recording department from 1979 and headed it from 1995.

He dealt in particular with stratigraphy and facies analysis of the Lower Keuper (Lettenkeuper) and Gipskeuper . He also dealt with tectonics, aerial photography and was involved in several geological maps.
