Horst Eckert

Horst Eckert (born May 7, 1959 in Weiden in the Upper Palatinate ) is a German author of crime novels.

Life

Eckert studied political science in Erlangen and Berlin . He worked as a television journalist in Cologne and Düsseldorf for the WDR, VOX and RTL-Nachtjournal, among others. In 1995 his first detective novel, Anna's legacy, was published . Today Eckert lives as a freelance writer in Düsseldorf , where most of his crime novels are set. He is considered "the most important representative of the hardened crime novel in Germany" (Ulrich Noller, WDR). His novels have been published by Grafit Verlag , and since 2013 by Wunderlich Verlag , which belongs to Rowohlt . "Deutschlandfunk" describes them as "a complex police thriller in the best sense of the word, which can be read not only as an exciting crime story, but also as a commentary on the time".

For Aufgeputscht he received the Marlowe Prize in 1998 , for Die Zwillingsfalle 2001 the Friedrich Glauser Prize of the “authors' group of German-language crime literature” - The Syndicate , to which he was nominated several times, and for Black Swan the audience award Krimi-Blitz. Some of his novels have been translated into French, Dutch and Czech. The Westfalenpost described his novel Sprengkraft as “a furiously composed piece of contemporary literature”. Eckert was awarded the Herzogenrath Handcuff for the thriller Wolfsspinne in 2017 .

Horst Eckert is u. a. Member of the "Syndikat" and the PEN Center Germany .
