Horst J. Andel (* 1933 in Wiesbaden ; † 2001 in Munich ) was a German journalist and long-time agent for the Israeli secret service Mossad .

Life

Andel, who was of Jewish origin, worked for the Israeli secret service Mossad for many years. In Cairo , from 1962, he clarified the rocket and aircraft industry in Egypt , which was largely built up by former Nazis from Germany. He also tracked down the Nazis Hans Eisele (concentration camp doctor) and Johann von Leers (Nazi publicist) who had gone into hiding in Egypt . During the Six Day War of June 1967, he was involved in an important Mossad intelligence operation that misled the intelligence services of the Arab states hostile to Israel. In the 1980s he observed the right-wing extremist scene in the Federal Republic of Germany for the Mossad . He took part under his real name at the founding party conference of the party The Republicans and worked as a researcher for the right-wing extremist publisher and politician Gerhard Frey .

In addition to his work as an agent, Andel also worked as a correspondent for numerous German-language newspapers and as a non-fiction author (sometimes under the pseudonym Aharon Moshel ).
