Horst Langer (Manager)

Horst Langer (born March 16, 1936 in Breslau ; † January 5, 2007 ) was a German engineer and manager.

Life

After studying electrical engineering at the Technical University of Munich and the Technical University of Darmstadt , he took up a job at Continental Elektroindustrie AG in 1961 . This company was incorporated into Siemens AG in 1971 . He obtained his doctorate in 1966 at the TU Braunschweig .

In 1978 he went to India and became Managing Director of Siemens India Ltd. in Mumbai . Until his return to Germany in 1984, he expanded this regional Siemens AG company considerably. In Erlangen , he took over the manufacturing industry division in the energy and automation technology division .

After taking over the industrial division in October 1986, he was appointed to the company's board of directors in the same year. When Siemens AG restructured in 1989, he became a member of the central board. In 1988 he was appointed Chairman of the Board of Director and CEO of Siemens Corporation in New York . In the early 1990s, he was responsible for the entire division of North and South America.

He was also a member of the Dresdner Bank Advisory Board. On October 1st, 1998, he retired.
