Horst Meurer (born April 21, 1934 ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Meurer belonged from 1952 to 1961 to the Saarland- based Borussia from Neunkirchen , for which he played point games in the Oberliga Südwest as a striker.

As a runner-up in the 1958/59 season , he consequently took part in the qualifying game to take part in the final round of the German Championship , which, however, was lost on May 3, 1959 3: 6 against Werder Bremen ; he succeeded in the connection goal to 3: 4 in the 75th minute. The final for the DFB Cup in Kassel on December 27, 1959 was also lost 5-2 to Schwarz-Weiß Essen , after having played in the semifinals in the 2-1 victory over VfR Mannheim on October 3rd .

As again runner-up in the 1959/60 season , he again took part in the final round of the German championship . This was played in two groups of four teams each with a return leg, of which both winners contested the final. In Group 1 he played all six games and scored his only two in the second and fourth game on May 21 and June 4, 1960, in the 1: 2 defeat against Westfalia Herne and in the 2: 2 draw against Karlsruher SC Gates. Group winners Hamburger SV , who beat 1. FC Köln 3-2 , moved into the final .

Again runner-up in the 1960/61 season , he last came on May 6, 1961 in the 5-0 defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt in the qualifying game for participation in the final round of the German championship .
