Horst Ritter (* July 14, 1925 - July 1, 2001 ) was a German football player and horn player . From 1950 to 1960 he played a total of 207 games for the clubs Spandauer SV and Stuttgarter Kickers in the first-class regional leagues of the Berlin City League and the South Football League , scoring 48 goals.

Career as a footballer

Ritter was initially active in Berlin-Spandau for Spandauer BC before he switched to Spandauer SV. From 1950 to 1953 he played in the first-class city league for the Red-Whites from the stadium on Neuendorfer Strasse. In three rounds he was mostly used as a center forward and came in the then practiced World Cup system to 74 league games in which he scored 33 goals. In his last year in Berlin, 1952/53 , he won the runner-up with Spandau. He had contributed twelve goals in 24 round games.

Through an actually professional audition appointment in Stuttgart, Ritter came into contact with the President of the Kickers and finally got involved in his club, which was then in the first-class Oberliga Süd . He made his debut with the Kickers on the first day of the round 1953/54 , August 16, 1953, in a 3-0 home win against Hessen Kassel. Ritter stormed on right winger at the side of defender Hans Eberle and right wing runner Siegfried Kronenbitter . With the 14th place, the Degerlocher just kept the class and the newcomer from Berlin had scored ten goals in 29 league appearances. Even in the following seasons, Ritter was able to keep the class with the Kickers, until they had to relegate at the end of the 1957/58 season . After the immediate resurgence, the following year was followed by relegation to the second division, in which the Kickers remained in the following years. In total, Ritter completed 174 league games for the Stuttgarter Kickers and scored 16 goals.

Career as a musician

In addition to his footballing performance, Ritter was professionally engaged in music. At first he belonged to the ensemble of the Schillertheater in Berlin, but was not permanently employed there. He turned down a possible move to the East Berlin Opera. In 1953 he auditioned in both Dortmund and Stuttgart and finally got a permanent job as a horn player at the Stuttgart State Theater . In 1990 he retired.
