Horst Singer

Horst "Spatz" Singer (born March 2, 1935 in Ulm ) is a former German handball player who competed for Germany.

Horst Singer was the Württemberg handball champion in 1951 with the A-youth from Frisch Auf Göppingen . From this team, five players belonged to the team led by player-coach Bernhard Kempa in 1954 , which won the German championship title both in the hall and on the field. In 1955 the title was won again in the hall, in 1957 the second title was won on the field. After a few years with Berliner SV 92 and the gymnastics club in Göppingen , Singer returned to Frisch Auf in 1961 and won the European Cup in 1962. In 1965 and 1970 Singer won two more German championship titles in indoor handball.

From 1955 to 1960 Singer played in 23 international matches for the German national handball team , eight of them on the field; Singer scored 68 goals in the national dress. At the field handball world championship in 1955 , Bernhard Kempa and Horst Singer, two players from Frisch Auf Göppingen, were part of the Federal Republic of Germany's squad, which won the title in front of a home crowd.

Horst Singer's daughter Christina Singer was German indoor tennis champion in 1987.
