Horst Steffny

Horst Steffny (born November 6, 1945 in Trier ) is a German goldsmith and politician ( Greens ).

Life

Steffny did an apprenticeship in goldsmithing in his parents' business. From 1967 to 1968 he did community service in a hospital in Düsseldorf and then worked as a goldsmith.

In 1983 he joined the Greens. In 1986 he was spokesman for the "Citizens' Initiative against the Cattle Market Project in Trier". He was a founding member of the Trier citizens' initiative against the nuclear power plant in Cattenom and from 1991 to 2006 a member of the board of the Nature and Environment Foundation Rhineland-Palatinate.

1986–1989 he was a member of the Trier City Council. In 1987 he was elected to the eleventh state parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate , to which he was a member until the end of the 1991 electoral term. In the state parliament he was a member of the council of elders, the committee for agriculture, viticulture and forestry, the media policy committee, the electoral review committee and the study commission "Possibilities of direct citizen participation and decision-making in representative democracy".
