Horten is a small bay on the south coast of South Georgia . It is located in the western part of Jossac Bight .
In the records of the British zoologist Leonard Harrison Matthews (1901-1986) as part of the Discovery Investigations from 1931, it is referred to as Horten or Betsey Cove or Horten Bay . The South Georgia Survey reported at the end of its survey campaign, which ran from 1951 to 1957, that the term hoarding has long been established among local whale and seal hunters.
