The nature reserve Kiesgrube Weberalten is located in the municipality of Rheinfelden (Baden) in the district of Lörrach .

Characteristics

The nature reserve was designated by ordinance of the Freiburg Regional Council of November 17, 1997 and has a size of 6.3179 hectares. It is listed under the protected area number 3.242. The CDDA code for the nature reserve is 164083 and corresponds to the WDPA ID .

Location and description

The nature reserve Kiesgrube Weberalten is located in the municipality of Rheinfelden (Baden) in the Herten district with a total size of around 6.3 hectares. The nature reserve, a former gravel and slate pit , with a mosaic of very different location factors in a small area, enables a multitude of endangered animal and plant species, especially large numbers of dragonfly species.

Protection purpose

The main protection purpose of the nature reserve is the preservation of a former gravel pit and adjacent areas

  • with a mosaic of different location factors in a small space,
  • with a large number of endangered animal and plant species, in particular a large number of dragonfly species, some of which are extremely rare in the Federal Republic of Germany, and
  • as a secondary habitat in a heavily sprawled and intensively used landscape.
