The Utzenfluh nature reserve is located in the area of ​​the communities Todtnau and Utzenfeld in the district of Lörrach .

Characteristics

The nature reserve was designated by ordinance of December 6, 1940 and has a size of 272,466 hectares. It is listed under the protected area number 3.034. The CDDA code for the nature reserve is 82772 and corresponds to the WDPA ID .

Location and description

The Utzenfluh nature reserve is located in the municipality of Todtnau in the Geschwend, Schlechtnau and Todtnau district with 120.6465 ha and the Utzenfeld community in the Utzenfeld district with 151.8194 ha. The nature reserve consists of rocky areas of the small and large Utzenfluh Preculm rock, porphyries, greywacke and biotite granites. For zoologists and botanists, it is one of the most interesting rocky areas in the southern Black Forest. During the expansion in 2011, the surrounding pasture fields were included.

Protection purpose

No essential protective purpose was anchored in the ordinance of 1940. The protection purpose of the nature reserve is now defined in Section 23 BNatSchG Paragraph 1 Nos. 1-3, whereby the reasons for designating a nature reserve are not limited to ecological or aesthetic aspects, but also extend to scientific, natural history and regional aspects.
