Hosea Gear (born March 16, 1984 in Gisborne , New Zealand ) is a New Zealand rugby union player on the position of the outer three quarters and the younger brother of the outer three quarters Rico Gear . He plays for Wellington in the Air New Zealand Cup and for the Hurricanes in the Super 14 . On November 1, 2008, Gear made his international debut for New Zealand against Australia , at a game for the Bledisloe Cup in Hong Kong . Gear gained international experience in the U-21 national team in 2004 and 2005 and with the New Zealand Māori in 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2008.

He currently holds 14 attempts in the 2008 season, the record for the most attempts made in the Air New Zealand Cup.

His brother Rico also played for the All Blacks. He took 19 tests between 2004 and 2007.

Hosea is 1.89 m tall and weighs 102 kg. He went to Gisborne Boys' High School and he plays for the Hutt Old Boys-Marist rugby club.
