The Hotel Bachmair am See is a four-star hotel in Rottach-Egern , which was run by the family of the same name from 1826 to 2019 and has been part of the Hirmer group of companies ever since .

In 2014 the hotel had 288 rooms, eight meeting rooms and several restaurants, indoor and outdoor pools, a wellness department, fitness equipment and a bowling alley.

The master baker Johann Bachmair opened a pub on site in 1826.

Karin Bachmair married Karl Rauh in 1967 and took over the hotel from her father. It was gradually expanded into a hotel, which included nine houses with 520 beds in the hotel on Seestrasse. In the 1970s, the Hotel Bachmair was one of the top addresses in the Tegernsee valley and attracted the Munich crowd , for example Tina Turner , Frank Sinatra , Udo Jürgens , Fats Domino , Udo Lindenberg and Thomas Gottschalk . Well-known hoteliers and chefs later also learned here, for example Heiner Finkbeiner or Hermann Bareiss .

In the 2010s, the hotel was getting on in years. From November 2017 to May 2018 the hotel was closed for renovation. The Rauh-Bachmair family reopened the parts of the building facing the lake: the main building, the Maxbau, the new building and the garden house. 60 rooms, including two 80 square meter suites above the panorama restaurant, were available again.

In December 2019, the family announced that they had leased the hotel to the Hirmer Group on a long-term lease . This is planning a tour within its subsidiary Travel Charme Hotels & Resorts and a careful renovation during ongoing operations between 2020 and 2023 with an expansion to 150 rooms.
