Hermann Bareiss
Hermann Bareiss (born March 27, 1944 in Baiersbronn ) is a German hotelier. He is the owner of the Hotel Bareiss , which he expanded into one of the best private hotels in Germany ( five-star superior ) with the three-star Bareiss restaurant .
Life
Hermann Bareiss's father was killed in the war in 1945. His mother had to raise both children alone. In 1951 she opened the small Kurhotel Mitteltal , which has grown over the years.
Bareiss completed an apprenticeship in cooking and moved to stations in Paris, London and Cairo. Eventually he became assistant director at the renowned Hotel Bachmair in Rottach-Egern . In 1966 he received a surprising call from his mother: "Either you come home or I'll sell the hotel." He supported his mother, who was in poor health.
At the age of 29, he took over the hotel in 1973. Over many years he developed it into one of the leading private holiday hotels in Germany.
In December 1982 he set up the gourmet restaurant Bareiss , which was awarded a Michelin star the following year; The second followed in 1984 and the third in 2007 under chef Claus-Peter Lumpp . Restaurant and hotel were in constant competition with the hotel a few kilometers away Traube Tonbach by Heiner Finkbeiner .
In 1992 he renamed the Kurhotel Mitteltal to the Hotel Bareiss . In 2003, Bareiss acquired the Morlokhof, built in 1789, had it restored and was awarded the Monument Protection Prize in 2008 . Since 2009 his younger son Hannes Bareiss (* 1980) has been at his side in the management of the hotel.
