The Hotel Bareiss is a five-star superior hotel in the Mitteltal district of Baiersbronn . The holiday hotel is run by Hermann Bareiss and his son Hannes. 80 percent of the guests are regular customers.
The hotel has the three-star Bareiss restaurant with Claus-Peter Lumpp as head chef .
history
In 1947 Hermine Bareiss (1913–1996) took over the Gasthaus Kranz in Mitteltal, in 1950 she bought a nearby building site in Im Gartenbühl (today Hermine-Bareiss-Weg ) and built the Kurhotel Mitteltal there . It was inaugurated on May 1, 1951 with 25 beds. In the 1960s, she expanded the hotel with a guest house with a further 17 beds, a hotel lobby and an indoor swimming pool .
In 1966, Hermine Bareiss brought her son Hermann (* 1944) into the house, who had worked his way up from a cook to an assistant manager at the Hotel Bachmair on Tegernsee . In 1973 she handed over the hotel to the 29-year-old. The extension was increased by three floors and the Rôtisserie St. Hubertus restaurant was added.
In December 1982 the gourmet restaurant Bareiss was set up with its own kitchen and was awarded a Michelin star the following year . The second followed in 1984 and the third in 2007 under chef Claus-Peter Lumpp .
At the end of the 1980s, an outdoor pool with sunbathing area was built, and a penthouse floor was built on the central wing of the hotel. In 1992, Bareiss named the hotel after his family and turned it into a holiday and family hotel.
In 2003 Hermann Bareiss acquired the Morlokhof , which was built in 1789, and had it restored to its original state. For this he was awarded the Baden-Württemberg Monument Protection Prize in 2008. The yard is used for events.
Hannes Bareiss (* 1980) has been by his father's side since 2009.
In 2014 the municipality of Baiersbronn renamed the Gartenbühlweg to Hermine-Bareiss-Weg .
