history

The Hotel Einstein is closely interwoven with the textile industry. The classicistic five-storey building was built in 1830 by the widow of the textile outfitter Jacob Allgäuer. The entrepreneur ran a finishing shop in it . Later the ground floor housed the people's kitchen . After a few changes of hands, Isaak David Einstein acquired the building and made his embroidery there.

In 1978, the St. Gallen textile manufacturer Max Kriemler bought the property, renovated it and converted it into a hotel, which opened in 1983. The name of the previous owner has remained.

The congress building designed by the Munich architect Christoph Sattler ( Hilmer & Sattler and Albrecht ) was opened in 2009 .

After its last review, the hotel was again classified as a 4-star superior hotel by the Hotelleriesuisse business association in 2019 . The Einstein Gourmet restaurant in the Hotel Einstein has had two Michelin stars and 18 GaultMillau points since 2017.
